Description

p 170. Intellectually understanding Hashem is not synonymous with dveykus (bonding) with Hashem. If the purpose of life was to acquire chochma (wisdom), clearly the most spiritual chochma would be considered the most desirable to learn. Chochma is only of value for the purpose of dveykus. The way to be in dveykus with Hashem is to be yosher (straight and true). The moment we step away from the yosher, we become distant from Hashem. Yaakov is the embodiment of yosher. Tzidkus (piety) means to hit the target, while cheit (sin) means to miss the target.
