On Succos the ahavah (Divine love) of Yom Kippur is poured into the world, from which the seventy nations derive their life force. Our prayer of gevuras geshamim (strength of rain) on Shemini Atzeres is to convert the 'icy' love of Hashem to water - by davening, singing and learning. We have to turn the false love prevalent in the world into real love for Hashem and His Torah and mitzvas.
