Description

The arba minim (four species) are shaken in all directions to express the unity of Hashem and are pulled towards the heart in order to implant this unity in the heart. Hashem is called hamakom shel olam (the place of the world) because He is not separated from the world. Our tachlis (purpose) is to bring G-dliness into our physical everyday actions. Shemini Atzeres is our soul returning to Hashem after the physical involvement of Succos. Water represents the close love of Hashem on Yom Kippur. Ice means the descent of Hashem's love to the physical world on Succos.
