Description

Our relationship with Hashem becomes colder the further we draw into the physical, away from praying and learning Torah. It's much harder to draw elokus (G-dliness) into the workplace than into the succah. Hashem's 'hug' during Succos is not a face to face kissing relationship with Him and so it can get lost to the sitra achara (impure forces). The chesed of Avraham is represented by hugging, creating the possibility of a Yishmael. The animal sacrifices by the non-Jews on Succos allows them to draw from the awakening of Hashem's love. Our avodah (Divine service) is to ignite the fire, during the winter, after the festivals.
