Description

We will study the Rambam's presentation of the revolution of Rebbenu HaKadosh when the latter authored the Mishna. We will see some applications of the principle of "Et LaAsot LaShem", including the Rambam's justification 4 his Moreh HaNeVuchim; the permission of the Sefer HaChassidim & Trumas HaDeshen for women to dress as men & visa versa as well as the allowance for a Jew to dress as a non-Jew in order to protect himself from danger. In this shiur we will raise the possibility that there is a fundamental difference between reading Mikra (the 5 books of Moses) and Nach. Rashi establishes that there is a mitzva to read Mikra, implying that Nach requires an understanding of what is being read. Rav Yaakov will explain the difference.
