Description

The Yerushalmi (Pesachim X:1) asks what the source is for the Arba Cosot. Several answers are given, but one in particular, from Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi, is remarkably poignant in light of our circumstances. Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi posits that the source for the Arba Cosot comes from the four cups in the story of Yosef and Pharaoh. What does this mean? He is teaching that there is another paradigm of redemption in which the path of redemption is not linear, but circuitous. It's a story that has its ups and downs, like the story of the Yosef saga. We must be aware that even in the process of redemption, there will be challenges. So let us find redemptive moments even as we face challenges. חג פסח כשר שמח ובריא
