Description
There is an offering that speaks to us particularly during this corona epidemic: the Korban Mincha. All year, this korban cannot contain any element of chametz. This comes to remind us that we are limited and of our dependence on God.
However, on Shavuot, as we celebrate Matan Torah, we add chametz to the Korban Mincha. Why? The message is that our mandate from the Torah is to make a difference in the world.
We see this in the heroic work of healthcare workers serving on the front lines of this crisis, and in the initiative-taking by those in quarantine sewing masks in their homes and donating to medical facilities.
During Corona, we see the dialectic of the Korban Mincha in full view: dependence on God and the need to change the world.
