Description
In this shiur for Masechet Shabbat 124a & Beitza 33a we will try to reconcile two sugyos that seem to contrdict one another regarding the status of firewood (בקעת) on Yom Tov. Why is one enjoined from using this wood לצורך גופו, e.g. to support his pot, on Yom Tov? Is it because of the Issur Shabbos and the application of the principle גזרינן יו"ט אטו שבת? Or is it because the wood is Muktza and prohibited on Yom Tov itself? We will discuss the relationship between the prohibition against משילין, i.e. טירחא, and the debate between Beis Hillel & B"S re: מתוך.
