We seek to compare 2 sugyos, Sotah 38a & the sugya in Taanit 26a. Both address the היקש between Avodas HaKohen on the Mizbe'ach & the mitzva of the kohanim of Nesias Kapaim. Is this a full-fledged Hekesh? Does it generate a Pesul DeOraisa in Nesias Kapaim? For example, does ישיבה void his Beracha? If so, why shouldn't we disqualify a Ba'al Mum from Nesias Kapaim? We will work hard to separate the two sugyos. In the second part of today's shiur we wll address the Halacha of a Kohen Meshumad or a Kohen who worshiped Avoda Zara & is henceforth disqualified from Avoda. What is the nature of this Psul? Does it apply even if the Kohen did Teshuva? Does it apply to a Kohen who desecrates the Shabbos publically? Would the latter be pasul to duchan?
