Description
In this shiur for Masechet Chulin 112a & Masechet Pesachim 76a, we will study the sugya of meat that fell into salty milk (כותח), which is codified in Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah siman #91, se'if 7. In some cases the meat is permitted; in other situations the mean requires קליפה; in certain cases the meat is prohibited. There are various factors that must be calculated: is the meat hot? Is it spiced? Is it cooked or raw? Does the meat have crevices (בקעים)? The Shach records three different opinions in the Rishonim as to the final Halacha on this issue & tries to determine if and when we can rely on the מקילין at least in a situation of great financial loss.
