For Berachot 20b we will study the status of women re' the following mitzvos: Kiddush on Shabbos, Birchas HaMazon, Vidui Ma'aser, & Mikra Bikurim. The shiur is largely based on the insights of HaRav Moshe Soloveichik, our Rebby's father (and my father's Rebby) on 3 different questions. 1: why does the Bach believe - based upon the בה"ג - that women cannot be מוציא men in Kiddush? How can we disagree with the Bach & undermine the analogy between Megilla & Kiddush? 2: why does the Mechaber accept as a given that women can light the Chanuka candles on behalf of the men, whereas in Megilla the Mechaber is concerned with he Behag? 3: how to reconcile the discrepancies in the Rambam re' the status of נשים & גרים in Vidui Ma'aser, & Mikra Bikurim.
