Description

For our study of Masechet Chulin 108a, we will formulate four basic principles that govern the laws of Taarovos. First the principle of טעם, i.e. when the Issur that was cooked with Heter was removed, leaving behind the Ta'am of Issur. Second, the Heter that has absorbed the Ta'am is now גופו של איסור, and therefore we will need 60x the entire piece in the second mixture; this is the principle of חנ"נ. Third, When חנ"ן does not apply, e.g. in other Issurim (other than Basar Bechalav), the piece of Heter that absorbed Taam Issur, in the second mixture - when there is 60x - reverts back to its original state of Heter: אפשר לסוחטו מותר. Fourth, according to the Rashba, even without חנ"ן, the original piece remains Assur bec. אפשר לסוחטו אסור.
