In this shiur for Masechet Chulin 96b we will study the Mishna of ירך שנתבשלה בה גיד. Our first issue is the following: is this a case of מין במינו or of מין בשאינו מינו? The Raaved proves from this Mishna the the Halacha is like the Chachamim of Rebby Yehuda that מין במינו בטל בשישים. We will prove however that most Rishonim understood that our case is one of מין בשאינו מינו, because גיד is not בשר. Would קפילא be relevant to our Mishna? This would depend upon the the above debate. Does the Rabbinic requirement of שישים in מין במינו apply to an Issur Dirabanan like שמנו של גיד? We will study the q' of Tos' re: the כדי קליפה around the Gid based on the Issur VeHeter re: 2 foods that have 2 different טעמים but share the same שם איסור.
