In this shiur for the beginning of Masechet Shabbat we will continue our study of Meleches HoTza'ah and investigate the possible sources in the Torah for the prohibition of הוצאה. We will see that although Rashi & Tos' assume a separate אזהרה in the Torah for the איסור הוצאה, the Rambam subsumes the prohibition of Hota'ah under the all inclusive אזהרה of כל מלאכה לא תעשו, i.e. the general Issur Melacha that encompasses all 39 Melachos. We will demonstrate that the debate between the Rishonim evolves from a fundamental issue regarding the nature of the Issur of Shabbos, is it one Issur with 39 forms, or 39 independent Issurim.
