When transitioning into Parshat Vayeitzei, we examine Yaakov's experience of going into exile. What was the reason he left his home? For what purpose did he go to Charan? While these questions may seem similar, their distinction is what transforms Yaakov's experience in exile. Yaakov sets the stage for how we are meant to approach the difficulty and darkness of exile for all generations, both personally and nationally.
