In this shiur for Shabbat 102b:, we will begin our study of מלאכת בונה and analyze the threefold controversy between Rav & Shmuel regarding Maleches Boneh and its relationship to Meleches Make BePatish. We will try to understand the Rashba's definition of בנין מועט, and why Shmuel consistently pushes for makeh be'patish. How is מועט different from כל דהו? The latter surely qualifies as Boneh. We will study the apparent contrdictions in the Rambam: does he accept Rav or Shmuel?? We will present a number of approaches as to how to reconcile the piskei HaRambam regarding נקב בלול של תרנגולים. When he classifies this as Boneh is it because the Lul is not fit for chickens after the hole, or because the Lul was fit even be4 he made the hole?
