After offering a general review of the Rishonim & Poskim regarding drinking on Purim, is it a requirement or simple a mitzva, and how much should one drink - should one get absolutely drunk on Purim? What about whiskey or must it be wine? Are women included in this obligation? What about someone who gets ill from drinking? We will then address the main issue of this shiur, namely, the conflict between Kibud Av and the mitzva of drinking on Purim when one's father commands his son "Do not drink on Purim", is the son obligated to obey his father's command? We will analyze the scope of the mitzva of Kibbud Av, and offer some suggestions of the Poskim in this situation. We will try to establish what we call "the middle of the road" approach.
