Description
In this Halacha shiur for Mishpatim we will study the Shulchan Aruch and poskim on the issue of can one take the law into his own hands? We will study the case of saving one's object from the thief, under what conditions may the victim strike back at the theif and when must he wait patiently til he can sue the thief in a Beis Din? What if the defendant sued the thief in a secular court of law? When the victim is permitted to assault the thief must he pay the thief for damages? In the latter part of this shiur we will study a contemporary Tshuva on the following issue: if an individual is in possession of an object which threatens the spiritual well being of others, is one permitted to take the law into his hands & destroy the object?
