Description

Why does the Rambam establish a new set of rules that govern Birchot Shema rather than applying the rules that apply to all Berachot? We will study a #of Halochot that apply to Birchot K"S: the requirement of repeating these berachot if he deviated from the Nusach ('Matbeah') established by the Beit Din of Ezra; the requirement to recite these Berachot when one is unsure if he had already recited kriat shema. In other cases of Safek the Rambam drops the Beracha. The basic issue is: does a beracha on a mitzva remain an independent kiyum or is the beracha integrated into the very fabric of the kiyum of the mitzv itself? If one omitted the berachot is the mitzva itself incomplete? How do the Berachot on Shema embellish the recitation of K"S?
