Oros HaTorah, Perek 13, 8th piece. In this piece, Rav Kook is giving mussar (admonishment) to the Talmidei Chachamim (Torah scholars) of Eretz Yisrael, with tremendous love. Bad middos (character traits) can build to the extent where a nation could want to swallow up the world. The Chachamim have to recognize their power and greatness and to rise up to their responsibility to the world. We have brought the poverty and fear of galus (exile) back with us to Eretz Yisrael. A tzaddik can take a person who is living in a small way and bring out his greatness. The Jews of Eretz Yisrael must be great and must have a positive influence on the world.
