Description

Oros HaTorah, Perek 13, 7th piece. The life of the Jewish people in Chutz L'Aretz (outside of the Land of Israel) is not authentic, and the Talmid Chacham (Torah Scholar) feels this the most. Those connected to the core of Am Yisrael are not distracted by the surface contradictions and differences between the differing paths within Torah life. All of the areas of learning really come from one root, but in Chutz L'Aretz, the areas are perceived as competing with each other. As long as Jews are not connected to the true source of shalom (peace and harmony), that is Hashem, there cannot be shalom between us. There is a false sense of shalom among Jews in Chutz L'Aretz. Shalom cannot really develop in the impure lands of galus (exile), because of the spiritual suffocation that exists there. The thirst for Torah is a thirst for the pnimius (inner aspect) of Torah, for the relationship with Hashem.
