Description

No one can escape the decree that 'man was created for toil'. If we are wise, we will fulfill our quota of hardship through toiling in Torah. Achashveirosh wanted to show that he had the ability to grant all of this world to whoever he desired, therefore all the pleasures of the world were present at his feast. Seven days of feasting correspond to the seventy years of life in this world. The decree of destruction on the Jews highlighted the falsehood of the feast and its promise of receiving all of this world.
