Description

Rebbe Nachman 'gave a voice' to the town chazzan (cantor) that refused to sing at a shalom zachor (a gathering the first Friday night after a boy's birth). A niggun (melody without words) of chessed (loving kindness) can uplift and give hope whereas a niggun of gevurah (judgment) is filled with sadness, despair and worry. Acher's Torah did not save him because he polluted himself by singing Greek songs. Holy speech results when our intellect is bound to our heart's burning desire for holiness. Listening to holy song causes a unification of voice with speech.
