We have to know how much Hashem loves each and every one of us. Because of a fathers powerful love towards his son he will destroy anyone who comes to harm him. The enemies were destroyed because of Hashem's great love towards his nation. The emphases of the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) throughout the tefillah of "Al Hanisim" (for the miracles) is for the awakening of love. The days of Chanukah are the days of chesed (kindness).
