We will study the Rishonim on the minhag of lighting Ner Chanuka in the Beis HaKneses. What is the basis for such a minhag? Can anyone fulfill his personal obligation of Ner Chanuka thru the lighting in the Beis HaKneses? Can the Shamash who recites 'shehechiyanu' repeat this bracha when he lights later at home? Should the ner be light after mincha, and the same even on Erev Shabbos? Can one person begin the lighting and someone else complete the job by lighting the balance of the Neros? How can we reconcile this bracha with the principle 'Ein Mevarchim al HaMinhag'? Is there a difference between this minhag & the minhag of chibut aravos on Hoshana Raba that does not get a bracha? Can the Ner be lit even without a minyan hamispallelim?
