We will analyze the controversy between Rav Amram Gaon and Rabenu Yona regarding a Birchat Hamitzva over Kriat Shema. The case is where he fulfilled his obligation of Birchat Kriat Shema before Tzeis HaKochavim, and will recite Kriat Shema following Tzeis. Will the recitation of Shema require a Birchat HaMitzva? Why does Rabenu Yona require the recitation of the bracha of Ahavat olam, a bracha that he already recited earlier during Maariv? In this shiur we will analyze the insight of Reb Chaim Brisker about the unique nature of Birchat HaTorah.
