Description
After a brief overview of the previous shiur on the Chakira: essential element or added-on din, we will study the concept of zecher LaMikdash. The latter does not deserve a Birchat HaMitzva according to the Rambam in Hilchot Chometz 8:8. This seems to contradict the law of a bracha over Lulav seven days which is a Kiyum of Zecher LaMikdash. We will reconcile this contradiction based on Rav Moshe Soloveichik's explanation of why women are exempt from Tfillin. Does the memory of the miracle define the essence of the mitzva - its ma'aseh and kiyum - or is the Zecher merely related to the mitzva but the essence is the objective, dry mitzva act? In the last part of this shiur we will analyze the Sugya of A Taanit Tzibbur in Pesachim 2b.
