Description
In this shiur for Masechet Chulin 104b-5a we will present an introduction to the Issur בשר בחלב, and focus on the Rabbinic requirement of waiting between meat & milk. Is this a full-blown Gezeira DeRabanan, or is it sufficient to eat cheese directly after meat once one washes out his mouth and terminates his meat meal with birchas hamazon? If the latter is true than all we have is minhag. We will study various minhagim about waiting. Rashi & the Rambam offer two different explanations for avoiding cheese after meat & we will study a number of נפק"מ between the two. In general must we be machmir for both these שיטות? What about a sick person or a young child? Does a Yeshiva have to guarantee that its talmidim eat milk 6 hours after meat?
