Rabbi Yechiel Morris has served as Rabbi of Young Israel of Southfield in Southfield, Michigan since 2002. He also teaches multiple high school-level classes at Farber Hebrew Day School in Southfield. Rabbi Morris is a member of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America and is part of the Presidium of the Council of Orthodox Rabbis of Greater Detroit. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Detroit Jewish Community Relations Council. Prior to his current position in Southfield, Rabbi Morris was a member of the Boca Raton Judaic Fellows Program in Boca Raton, Florida and the Rabbi of the Explanatory Service at the Boca Raton Synagogue. Rabbi Morris received his Rabbinic Ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchonon Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University in 2000. Rabbi Morris is a former Rabbinic Intern at the Riverdale Jewish Center in Riverdale, New York and he spent two years as a Student Rabbi at the Jewish Home for the Aged in Fairfield, Connecticut. During that time, he completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Rabbi Morris was born in Harrisburg, PA and he grew up in Rochester, NY. He received his BA from Yeshiva University and spent two years studying in Israel at Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh. Rabbi Morris and his wife, Adina, have three sons, Dovid, Ezra, and Moshe and two daughters, Meira and Tova.
