Rabbi Carmy teaches Jewish philosophy and Bible at Yeshiva University and is an expert on Biblical thought, modern Jewish thought (with an emphasis on Rabbis Soloveitchik & Kook), and Religious Zionism.
He is a consulting editor (and former executive editor) of Tradition and co-author (with Yeshiva University President Dr. Norman Lamm) of A Reader in Chasidic Thought. He is the editor of Modern Scholarship in the Study of Torah: Contributions and Limitations and of the forthcoming Jewish Perspectives on the Experience of Suffering. Rabbi Carmy has written numerous articles on modern-day Torah interpretation, including major articles on abortion and Jewish existence in exile. He is currently preparing Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik’s manuscripts on prayer for publication.
