Description
The theme of "the third day" is prominent in numerous narratives in Tanakh, beginning with Avraham's seeing the place of the Akedah on the third day, including the "third day" when Esther came to the king and the third day when Yonah finally prayed from inside the fish. Perhaps the most significant "third day" is the day of the Revelation and the Covenant at Sinai, which took place "on the third day", a notion that is mentioned three times (!) in the narrative of Shemot 19. We explore, through the eyes of several Midrashim, the significance of the third day in human experience as it affects, specifically, momentous experiences like Esther's risking her life, Avraham accepting the challenge of the Akedah - and Am Yisrael accepting the Torah.
