Parashat Bereisheet concludes with a strange story about the "Benei heElohim" and their taking "Benot haAdam"; God's reaction is to limit Man's lifespan to 120 years - and all of these points, along with numerous other nuances of the text, are troubling from both a literary as well as exegetical perspective. In this presentation, we look back to the beginning of Man's expulsion and divorce from the land and propose a theory as to the meaning and import of this inscrutable story.
