The tradition of reciting Psalm 47 7 times before Tekiat Shofar is relatively new, but Masekhet Sofrim reckons that chapter as the "Psalm of the Day" for Rosh haShanah. We explore the structure, themes and allusions of the psalms in order to gain a better understanding of its association with Rosh haShanah, with the Shofar and with that great day of God's absolute and omniversal coronation which we all anticipate.
