Ma'aser sheni is unique: (1) not given to anyone else unlike the other ma'aseros, and (2) its kedusha is not only transferable but (2b) fully portable and fungible [= no trace remains in the original item]. Why? ... and how is this relevant to us? ... to us right now, at this spiritual inflection point??
