Description

a) During Shacharis in the Kovno ghetto, one individual stopped daily by the Bracha “shelo asani aved”, asking how he could thank Hashem for not making him a slave when in fact he was suffering so horrifically at the hands of the Germans. Others echoed his sentiment and Rav Oshry was asked to express his view: was it appropriate to say this Bracha in those circumstances? b) A survivor asked Rav Oshry: A Lithuanian had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters, and was not in hiding to escape punishment for his crimes. Was he responsible to invest effort and resources to track him down and bring him to justice?
