Description

Why do we need to ask permission to recall on Shavuot the presentation of the Torah at Sinai? If it is a request for permission, why is so much of it addressed to us? And if it is a humble plea for permission, why do we spend so much of the poem praising our own elevation over the malachim (angels)?
