Description
The centerpiece of Parashat Emor is the "Parashat haMoadot", the most complete listing of the calendar found in the Torah. Immediately following that, however, is a repeat of the obligation for Bnei Yisrael to bring olive oil to the Mishkan for the Menorah, and the one command to prepare and set up the לחם הפנים - the bread that is to remain on the Shulhan "תמיד" - at all times. Why are these Mitzvot presented here - and not in Terumah, where the commands to construct the Menorah and Shulhan are found - or later on in Shemot, where we are commanded regarding their placement? Further inquiry into the symbolism of the לחם הפנים will open up a new appreciation for Bnei Yisrael's "presence" in the Mishkan
