Description
Yaakov's messengers bring a curious message and tribute to Esav - to Seir! Why is Esav in Seir, if he only left Eretz Kanaan in deference to Yaakov? Why does Yaakov continue to refer to Esav as "my lord" whereas Esav, after their reunion, embraces him and calls him "brother"? Why does Yaakov prostrate himself seven times before reaching Esav? Why doesn't Yaakov go directly to Hevron to his father, instead of moving to Sukkot (east bank) and then Shalem, east of Shekhem, for what looks to be an intended long or even permanent stay? All this and more hinge on reframing our understanding of what took place in the aftermath of Yaakov's leaving his father's side after receiving the blessing of "V'yiten Lekha"
