Description

The Baraita in Masekhet Kallah (1:2) proposes that Birkat Hatanim - commonly called "Sheva Berakhot" - can be found in our Parashah. When Rivkah leaves home with Avraham's slave, her family blesses her, and this is seen as a source for ברכת חתנים. In honor of the forthcoming marriage of Lee Samson and Lorna Isen, this shiur explores this and two other Biblical sources for Sheva Berakhot and the essence of this series of blessings and their role within the larger scope of elating a bride and groom. A surprising perspective is suggested which, hopefully, broadens and deepens our appreciation of these six(?) benedictions.
