Description

Rav Weinberger reconciles the apparent סתירה between the Rambam that states that real Teshuvah is only when Hashem himself is ready to testify on your behalf that you will never sin again and the Pasuk that states that Teshuva is "not in the heavens nor beyond the sea" rather it is "very close to you, in your mouth and in your heart, to do." Rav Weinberger brings Rebbe Nachman and the Chazon Ish, who both teach that no one can know what will be, and real Teshuva is standing strong in the present. Standing strong enough in this moment that Hashem himself testifies that you will not sin, now, in this moment. Not to dwell on our past broken resolutions or put all our hope into the future. That only gives us an excuse not to try right now.
