3. Title: Living In Israel
      Author: True == 1 ? Anonymous : Anonymous &##44;

R' Dr. Rakefet said [towards the end] that in our time the most important mitzva in the Torah is to live in the State of Israel.

Who said? Where does it say that? Living in Israel is more important than marrying a Jew or keeping Shabbat? More important than Talmud Torah? What about ותלמוד תורה כנגד כולם? I live in Israel and moved here myself at an age much younger than Rabbi Rakefet was when he came. But we must have balance and not invent a new Torah.

Also, the mitzva is not to live in the "State" OF Israel but in the "Land" of Israel. There is a mitzva to live here regardless of whether there is a State.

    4. Title: Why Kids Go Off The Derech
      Author: True == 1 ? Anonymous : Anonymous &##44;

With all due respect to Rabbi Rakefet: He says that the reason that kids go off the derech in Israel is because they are sent to Charedi schools. It is beyoooooonnd belief that such nonsense emantes from the mouth of an intelligent man. The statistics show that kids in non-charedi schools go off the derech in faaar greater numbers than kids who go to charedi schools [many of them in the army]. And kids from charedi schools who DO go off the derech don't go off because their parents have advanced secular education and they don't. They go off for many other reasons - but not that one. Of course Rabbi R' bring no proof for his claim. There is a lot of literature on this.

Any charedi kid with anglo parents can tell them that he wants to be religious and get a degree and nobody is going to stop him. It is just Rabbi Rakefets extreme anti Charedi religious zionist bias that is reflected in his spurious claim.
