Description

The introduction of Mordekhai in Esther 2:5 is always greeted with fanfare; yet the verse, when viewed carefully, has an ominous tone which, perhaps, serves as an introduction to the dark times about to engulf the Jews of the Persian Empire. A closer look at the central protagonists in the story, along with a critical chronological consideration, help to explain the anomalies in this verse.
