Description

There are a number of songs in the book of Tehillim that our tradition credits to the generation of the Exodus. Why, then, isn't the Song at the Sea in Tehillim? What is its function within the narrative of the Exodus? And how does the larger story of the Exodus square with the consistent demand to leave and "bring offerings to our God in the desert" for an ostensible 3-day festival? These questions are addressed and their answers woven together to present an innovative perspective on the structure and themes of Shirat HaYam
