For Sukka 34b: how many of each of the 4 מינים?; The status of a Hadas שנקטם ראשו. The Mishna & the sugya will record the various opinions of the Tanaim regarding these issues. In this shiur we will establish an inverse relationship regarding the quantity and quality of the Hadas. For Rebbby Akiva, and Rebby Yishmael למסקנתו, one Hadas suffices. But raise the bar on the quality and require a שלם to the exclusion of a קטום. The other tanaim require three Hadasim - raising the quantity - but even קטומים suffice, lowering the quality. When Shmuel pressured the sellers to drop their high prices for Hadasim and threatened to accept Rebby Tarfon and validate קטומים, was he in fact accepting the Halacha of R' Tarfon? Or was he relying on the קולא?
