Description

We analyze the fourth chapter - Yonah's anger with God's compassion and his repeated desire to have his life taken - through the perspective of two commentators: R. Eliezer of Beaugency, a 12th century French exegete and R. Meir Leibush b. Yechiel Michel Wisser (MALBIM), 19th century scholar from Bohemia. Their disparate reads of Yonah's watching the city and his dismay, rejoicing and again dismay regarding the tree, are presented as running sub-texts.
