Description

Hashkafa for the night of the Seder: the special significance of the number 15. Of the various segments of the Haggada, one particular liturgical song invokes emotion & nostalgia, namely, דיינו, the list of fifteen great miracles, the מעלות טובות, that generate an obligation of gratitude. These culminate in the building of the בית הבחירה. Is it coincidental that this poem consists of 15 praises? We know that there were 15 steps in the Mikdash which led from the Ezras Nashim to the Ezras Yisrael. Dovid HaMelech composes fifteen chapters that begin with שיר המעלות. The Levites positioned themselves on these 15 steps and sang the songs of Dovid. The Name Yud - Hey equals 15. We praise Hasherm in Birchas K"S אמת ויציב with 15 descriptions.
