Description

The reading of Parashat Parah, always less than a month before Pesach, is conventionally understood as a public reminder for people to prepare and purify themselves so that they can participate in the Korban Pesach. A close look at a couple of Mishnayot in Masekhet Parah suggests a different connection that speaks to the divergent approaches taken by the Hakhamim as against that taken by the sectarians regarding the Beit HaMikdash and how exclusive worship ought to be.
