Description

There was both a reason and a purpose to why Yaakov went into exile- he was scared Eisav would kill him and also to build a family. By looking at the story of Yosef, and using him as a paradigm, one can see that this is the case in all the national and personal exiles that we go through. There is a reason that we go into exile but there is also a purpose, what we are meant to accomplish while in exile. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
