Description

In the first half of shiur, we discuss the makings of a king of Israel as opposed to secular views of leadership. By comparing and contrasting stories of Shaul and David, we see the primary elements of what it takes to be a truly successful Jewish king. We then shift gears and examine the final paragraphs of the Parsha which seem to be focused on war. If this is true, why is the mitzvah of eglah arufah included in this context? Through this discussion we reveal how Eretz Yisrael is a land focused on life and is the source of life for the entire world. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
