Description

In this Halacha shiur for Parshas Re'eh we will study the prohibition derived by the Gemara in Yevamos from the verse: לא תתגודדו, namely, do not split the community into separate groups. Issues come up on a daily basis regarding the application & scope of this Issur. What about two different cities? Two Courts (Batei Din) in the same city? What is the goal of this prohibition? Is it to avoid controversy & division, or to avoid the possibility of the spectator concluding that there are two Toros, i.e. two disparate traditions that were received at Sinai. What are the differences between these two definitions? We will look at Tefillin on Chol HaMoed, different customs re; work on erev Pessach or different versions of Tefillah.
